Chris Cherry, a dedicated farmer from New Palestine, Indiana, served as the President of the Indiana Corn Growers Association (ICGA) for 2024. He manages corn, soybeans, and wheat with his brother and uncle, primarily in Hancock County. Chris’s extensive experience in agriculture, from his early days as an agricultural salesman to his current role as a leader in the ICGA, instills confidence in his ability to represent the interests of the farming community. Chris and his wife Cristi have been married 32 years and have three daughters and two grandchildren.
Chris has been an active member of the ICGA board for three years as the District 6 Director and previously served as the Vice President. His leadership extends to the national level, where he represents ICGA on the National Corn Growers Association’s Biofuels Action Team.
As ICGA President, Chris focused on several critical initiatives for 2024. He strongly advocates for the passage of the next federal farm bill, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the farm safety net through crop insurance and enhancing conservation programs. Additionally, Chris is dedicated to pushing for year-round E-15, which can potentially increase demand for Indiana corn by an additional 51 million bushels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Chris deeply values the loyalty and stewardship of Indiana’s agricultural community. He is committed to continuing the legacy of local farmer Ronnie Mohr, whose ICGA position Chris was honored to fill. Through his leadership, Chris aims to protect and advance the interests of Indiana’s farming community, ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for generations to come.
