Scott Smith

Windfall, District V

Scott Smith, a third-generation farmer from Windfall, Indiana, is the President of Triple S Smith Farms, Inc., a family-owned and operated farm with a rich history spanning nearly 50 years. Scott’s journey in agriculture began at a young age, inspired by his father and grandfather. After attending Purdue University, his passion for farming brought him back to the family farm, where he and his wife, Terri, have raised corn for ethanol, seed soybeans for Beck’s Hybrids, and processed tomatoes for Red Gold in Tipton, Howard, and Madison counties.

As a committed advocate for Indiana farmers, Scott has served on the Indiana Corn Growers Association (ICGA) board for five years, serving as past Board President. His leadership extends beyond the state as he represents ICGA on the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) Communications and Education Action Team. Scott’s dedication to advancing sustainable agricultural policies is fueled by his belief in working together to support Indiana farmers.

Faith, family, and farming are the pillars of Scott’s life. He and Terri, who met in high school and later attended Purdue together, have cultivated a family-oriented environment on their farm, which has become a source of strength and balance. The couple raised three children, Shanna, Shanie, and Shawn, whose names inspired the “Triple S” in the farm’s name.

Scott’s passion for farming is evident in his love for the cyclical nature of the seasons and the continual learning that comes with each year. He views farming as both a lifestyle and a profession, deeply appreciating the opportunity to be a land steward. His involvement with ICGA allows him to give back to the agricultural community by advocating for policies that support farmers’ rights, promote ethanol use, and ensure the sustainability of Indiana’s agriculture.

As he looks to the future, Scott is focused on spending more time with his family, especially his grandson, A.J., while ensuring a smooth transition of the farm to the next generation. His legacy as a leader in Indiana agriculture and a devoted family man will undoubtedly continue to influence the farming community for years.
