The family farmers of Indiana are growing the future.
Indiana’s farmers are positively impacting the food on your table, the land beneath your feet, and the products in your home. 94% of the 20,000 corn and soybean farms in the state are family owned. While our farms may come in different shapes and sizes, we all value the same thing: responsibly growing safe, sustainable, and healthy food for your table and ours. Meet some of our farmers.

Meet the Hodgen Family
Paul and Jennie Hodgen felt a calling to return to Paul’s family farm in central Indiana in 2012. They recognize the lifestyle and opportunities that it provides their family and have no regrets. Today they grow corn, soybeans, wheat, and cattle. They are passionate about conservation and have implemented different environmental stewardship programs on their farm. They want to leave the farm better than they found it for the next generation.
The Hill family raises pigs, corn, soybeans, and wheat on their farm in Greenfield, Ind. Heather and her husband Marc, who is the fourth generation of his family to raise pigs in Hancock County, are proudly raising the fifth generation. The corn and soybeans they grow are used to feed the pigs, and the manure from the pigs is used to fertilize their crops— a true circle of life. Taking care of the pigs is the top priority on the farm each and every day.
Elaine and Craig Gillis grow corn and soybeans in east central Indiana. They are both third-generation family farmers. The family enjoys making connections with people who respect and appreciate the high-quality product they produce on their farm. Most of their soybeans end up in chicken and hog feed in the south or in soy-based biodiesel. When they look at soybeans they see the vast opportunity a single seed can provide.
