Farmers Deliver Improvements to Infrastructure - Indiana Corn and Soy

Farmers Deliver Improvements to Infrastructure

Indiana corn and soybean farmers invest in research and projects supporting the improvement of Indiana’s infrastructure, including roads, railways, bridges, and more.

Indiana Soybean Alliance invests funds into the Soybean Transportation Coalition, which is test piloting bridge alternatives in Indiana counties. This funding has resulted in two major bridge repairs in White County.

Indiana Soybean Alliance and Indiana Corn Marketing Council partner with the Indiana University Public Policy Institute to fund research assessing rural road and bridge needs in Indiana.

PoreShield™, a soy-based concrete durability enhancer developed in Indiana, extends the life of concrete 5x-9x. PoreShield was developed as the result of a collaboration with the Indiana Soybean Alliance (ISA), United Soybean Board, Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), and Purdue University and is now distributed by Crafco, Inc preservation products.

Poreshield™ has been
used by county
highway departments
to treat more than
80 bridges in Indiana.

INDOT has used about 10,000 gallons of Poreshield™ in total.
