David Hardin

Membership and Policy Chair, Avon

David Hardin was elected to the ISA Board in 2024. He is the manager of Hardin Farms near Danville, Indiana. He oversees a farrow-to-finish swine operation and produces non-GMO corn and soybeans for niche markets. A sixth-generation farmer, David is dedicated to advancing sustainability and efficiency in agriculture, employing no-till farming, cover crops, and nutrient management using manure as a resource.

David earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Purdue University in 1996 and an MBA from DePaul University in 2002. Before returning to the family farm in 2002, David worked for JBS United, supporting hog producers with data-driven management strategies, and at the Chicago Board of Trade in the grain futures division. His diverse experiences laid the foundation for his success in farm management and long-range strategic planning.

An accomplished leader, David has served on the Indiana Pork Producers Association board since 2005, was president of the Indiana Pork Advocacy Coalition, and chaired the Indiana Pork Political Action Committee. He has also held roles with the Indiana Farm Bureau and the American Farm Bureau Federation, focusing on trade, livestock, and agricultural policy. In 2023, Governor Eric Holcomb appointed David to the Indiana State Board of Animal Health.

David’s commitment to community and agriculture extends to local leadership in Hendricks County and advisory roles with the Purdue Center for Commercial Agriculture. A 2022 Indiana Master Farmer honoree, David’s achievements highlight his dedication to advancing modern farming practices while advocating for the industry.

David lives in Hendricks County with his wife, Danielle, a senior territory manager for Corteva Agriscience, and their four children: Dean, Davis, Devan, and Daphne. Together, the Hardins balance a commitment to family, farming, and fostering the future of agriculture.
